Infant with Cerebral Palsy

Athena Mosely was diagnosed with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy when she was two months old. After years of therapy including: speech, occupational, physical, and water rehabilitation she was still unable to perform most daily activities.

After two months of treatments using both infantile Tuina and acupuncture three times a week she is now able to feed herself and support herself upright with minimal support and has began walking with the help of a walker.

Help Me Get Through Another Day

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and later began radiation treatments which left me weak and fatigued. I heard from other breast cancer survivors how wonderful they felt after acupuncture treatments with Eric Smith, L.Ac. at the IHC Bel Air office. At the end of my radiation treatments I started taking medicine to help prevent the cancer from recurring. Unfortunately, this medicine has several side effects so I decided to try acupuncture.

My main concern at that time was the fatigue I was feeling. I was hoping and praying that I would make it through another day of teaching. Each morning I arrived at school and the fatigue would set in - I would grab a protein bar and go about my day as best I could. After my first acupuncture treatment I arrived at school the next day as usual to find the fatigue was gone and I had the energy to make it through a day of teaching. In addition, acupuncture has helped me manage the side effects of the medicine such as joint pain, leg problems, neuropathy, and menopausal symptoms. I have also been successfully treated for headaches and sinus problems. Besides having acupuncture treatments, I received herbal medicine advice for my family which has proven to be effective.

I found Eric very caring and knowledgeable about cancer and the side effects from the medicine as well as your regular health. He explained everything that he was doing during the treatment session. These treatments have helped me manage the side effects of the medication, helped restore my body's energy and returned my strength. I am very grateful for the knowledge, skills and talent that Eric has shared with me during my treatments.

An Amazing Year

I have been receiving acupuncture at IHC for almost one year now and I am still amazed at the continuous benefits it offers. I believe that Domenic is exceptional and that acupuncture is the one main modality that has allowed me to avoid a second cervical spine fusion.

The treatments put me in a state of total relaxation. I appreciate the staff because they have given me the best of care. I am so thankful I chose to go to IHC. I could not be more pleased!

Computer Repair & Training

First Year of College

During my first year in college, I had terrible anxiety, depression and agoraphobia. My symptoms were so bad that I couldn’t even get myself out of  bed without a fight.  I had tried everything else (therapy, meditation, etc…) and it wasn’t working. I had never heard of acupuncture but thought it was worth a try!

The receptionists are so sweet and caring. The environment is comfortable and peaceful – completely stress-free. I never have to wait - they are always on time with their appointments.

Domenic has been so empathetic and compassionate. He listens to me and is so smart and full of new treatment ideas.

Acupuncture has given me my life back. I am now a junior at Stevenson University with a 4.0 average. I can go out and enjoy life now. Meeting Domenic was the best thing that ever happened to me. He is good at what he does. He has already helped me with other problems like neck pain from a car accident and GERD. I will definitely continue to come and use acupuncture.

Our breech baby turned!

Our baby was in breech presentation and our OBGYN recommended coming for a Moxa treatment – which has proven to turn babies when in breech.  The experience was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The treatment rooms are warm and cozy which made me feel very comfortable. Domenic was so friendly and explained every step of the procedure to us.

The baby turned within one week of performing the home treatments Domenic showed my husband how to perform.

We had an excellent experience with IHC and would recommend it to our friends and family for the treatment of any condition acupuncture and the other therapies they offer may help. We hope to be able to use them in the future as well.

I began acupuncture treatments because my muscle spasms and tension headaches were too much to handle! I am a yoga teacher and always prefer alternative treatments over medication when I can - it seems drugs always come with side effects. I'd rather fix the source of the problem instead of put a bandaid on it and deal with other annoying side effects. To me acupuncture makes sense. Like yoga, its been healing people for centuries.

My schedule is a little tricky but the office got me right in. Scheduling was easy and professional. And I really love that the office handles the insurance and payments. The office atmosphere is very quiet, calm and conducive to a great experience and enjoyable treatment.

Typically my headache cycles take 2-3 weeks to resolve itself but with treatments, my cycle was cut in half. And Bill Zvarick ROCKS! In addition to the acupuncture, he incorporated acupressure which really made a difference to relieving my symptoms. He has a unique gift to really sense and feel pain along with compassion and a fun sense of humor and approach which makes the session a wonderful experience.

I originally began acupuncture treatments 4 years ago, as an experiment. I have an arthritic hip and was tired of taking tylonal for pain relief. Imagine my surprise when we discovered that acupuncture worked quickly and effectively in my case, and that with only 8 treatments, my pain was gone and easy movement was restored.

And then, last year – Disaster! I was diagnosed (for the second time) with breast cancer. I had been diagnosed and treated 7 years prior, and the return of my illness was a real setback. However I proceeded with the best, most aggressive treatment that western medicine could offer and in addition added complimentary acupuncture to the regimen. This had not been a part of my treatment 7 years ago.

My oncology treatment included surgery, some very effective but very toxic chemotherapy, followed by 6 weeks of radiation therapy. We began acupuncture therapy from the start, to aid the healing of the surgical procedure. Most important was the acupuncture administered to help with the side effects of the chemo, specifically nausea, fatigue and any other discomforts. To my surprise, I developed high blood pressure during chemotherapy, and this too was addressed. I am pleased to report that the combination of medications and acupuncture resulted in my experiencing no nausea whatsoever, and my blood pressure began to return to normal. Naturally I felt tired throughout, but the level of fatigue was radically better than during my first experience of 7 years ago. I was completely functional, could drive, continue my daily walks, do my housework, and usually stay awake through a movie(!).

We continued with complimentary acupuncture through my radiation treatments. Fatigue is the most common complaint among those receiving radiotherapy. Again, I am pleased to report that although I certainly was tired, I was hardly confined to the couch, the bed and the television. I was able to take care of my grandchild, socialize, meet my commitments, and most important, stay positive.

It is my firm belief that acupuncture significantly reduced the symptoms related to the very aggressive treatment that my illness required. Symptom relief, I feel, is essential to maintaining the positive outlook and the reasonable quality of life necessary during serious medical management in order to be victorious, well and happy again.

I first came to IHC with a lower back pain that other health professionals were unable to diagnose. When I came to IHC I had already tried traditional medicine (JHU), chiropractors and massage. All of which were unable to determine the cause or at the very least reduce my pain.

A friend recommended I go to IHC. Every step along the way I've found that the staff at IHC has been professional and well-informed in their field. When meeting with Domenic, he listened to my issues and explained thoroughly how acupuncture could help with my condition. Domenic's hands where always gentile. My condition was helped with acupuncture, and I would use it again.

I'm 23 years old and I work as a Firefighter in Baltimore City. I've been dealing with neck and back pain for at least 6 years. I have tried Physical Therapy, Massage Therapy, Electric-shock treatments, Chiropractors, you name it. All of them lost their effect within a few days. Acupuncture is the only thing that has worked longer than 2 days for me. It not only helped me with managing my back and neck pain, it increased my flexibility/ range of motion.

In June of '08 I was in a motorcycle accident that involved me hitting a truck head on. I was in more pain then ever before. I could barely sleep and my neck was very stiff. Immediately after receiving treatment from IHC I was sleeping, my neck had relaxed, and I could move like I could prior to the accident. Within a few weeks I was back to normal. I couldn't be happier with the results!

Wonderful!

I had exhausted many other options to treat my lower back pain. I had no reservations about trying acupuncture because I thought it was worth a try! My experience at IHC has been wonderful! Acupuncture does alleviate my pain and my bursitis was greatly helped.

I had an initial fear of needles...

I came to IHC because my physical therapy wasn't helping with my back and neck pain. I did have an initial fear of needles but I was really in need of finding something that worked. Bill is very nice and friendly - he relaxed and calmed my initial fears. My condition has really been alleviated with the combination of massage therapy and acupuncture. The Towson office is very nice and exceptionally clean. Each room has a very relaxing atmosphere. I would recommend IHC to anyone!

Alleviates My Anxiety and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder....

I began an aggressive acupuncture and massage therapy treatment schedule to manage and alleviate the physical effects of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder as well as chronic migraine headaches. I chose acupuncture because I was reluctant to take medication and wanted a more tangible and relaxing experience.

I love the office staff at Parkville and now love Towson as well. Susan, Monique, Lisa, Nancy and Colleen are so welcoming and friendly - I look forward to coming in and talking to all of them. The office is so relaxing and aways clean. Bill Zvarick and Maria Kimos are so honest and caring - they have truly become my friends as well as my practitioners!

My conditions have been managed both by acupuncture and massage - and I no longer take medication because of it! I will probably never stop the treatments! I love you guys!

Assisted with chemotherapy side-effects...

I came to Integrative Health Centers due to the side effects I was experiencing from my chemotherapy treatments (I had a brain tumor removed). I had fatigue, a metallic taste in my mouth and excess heat sensations. Since we believe in alternative wellness treatments, we thought we would give it a try. Our experience has been excellent! The acupuncture has been relaxing and very helpful! We rate you as 5 stars!

Exceptional is the word to describe many aspects of my experience at Integrative Health Center. I am taking the time to write this to return the kindness Domenic Thomas has shown to me and because his care has been such a positive experience for me. The acupuncture treatments have taken away numbness in my arms and hands and they have also brought my back to a point of relaxation that I had not felt for as long as I can remember. His caring kindness is something that has gotten to be hard to find in today's health care. The girls in the office are great too. I do not think you will be disappointed if you choose him for part of your health care services.

I met and started seeing Domenic while I was pregnant in early 2007 and I couldn't have been more thankful. He was able to take away the pain and uncomfortable feelings of just being pregnant.

I also saw Maria, who gave me a GREAT pregnancy massage! Since the birth of my son, I have been back to see Domenic many times for various reasons. The staff is great and I have never had any issues. I will never stop using IHC & I recommend them all the time!
