Acupuncture For Pain Management

May 9, 2006 by William Zvarick, L.Ac.

Spring is now upon us. Even in the most urban environment nature thrusts herself onto our awareness as flowering trees explode into bloom, gold buds pop out on bare tree limbs, and for all you allergy sufferers, pollen erupts into the air. The last example vividly illustrates a concept found in Chinese medicine: the human body is a reflection of the natural world.

Thousands of years ago the ancient Chinese observed the natural world and studied the response of the human body to its environment. Seasonal transition was especially important due to the processes which occur inside ourselves and our surroundings. The changes of season are ideal times to receive acupuncture treatments helping our bodies adjust to our external environment.

Increased pollen counts, rapidly changing weather patterns and increased activity can aggravate pre-existing health conditions. Acupuncture helps us achieve homeostatic balance, which is our bodies' way of adjusting to the world naturally. Spring is a time of growth and development for our natural world and within ourselves. It is an excellent time to revitalize our health so we can enjoy the warm sunny days with our friends and family. Don't let lethargy, allergies, colds and other disease keep you from enjoying life.
